Small Guide to London (English)

After my own trip to London, I thought that it would be a good idea to give other visitors some tips for their journey and that is what I'd like to do now in this "Small Guide to London".

Culture

Who likes to do some sightseeing without using all his savings therefore could do a Little DIY-tour through London with the help of the city bus or the underground. He can take some photos which he can Show later on Family an friends and he can discover the surroundings.
Important stops would be for example the Tower Bridge (Station:Tower Hill), Big Ben (Westminster), the Buckingham Palace(St. James's Park) and Picadilly Circus (Picadilly Circus).

You can also visit most of the London museums for free. Especially nice for young and old is the National History Museum. Most of the museums are around the underground Station "South Kensington".

Markets

To experience culture live, a good possibility are the interesting quarters of London, such as Chinatown (Leicester Square) with it's special flair.

Or you can look for one of the many markets. Lovely ones are:

- the Covent Garden Market (Covent Garden) that consists of the beautiful palace with many shopping Stores and little stands around the palace which serve fresh food and sweets

-the Camden Market (Camden Town), on which are selled clothes and souvenirs for good Prices

-the Borough Market (London Bridge; Borough), which offers fresh fruits, Juices, bread, selfbaked Snacks and sweets, flowers and more and which takes place in a traditional covered market

Food & Drink

Who says that London has to be expensive and that the food doesn't taste? It doesn't has to be this way. Supermarkets like M&S and Sainsbury have a big offer of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, bread, cake and pastries, drinks and they have many sandwiches, bagels, wraps, pasta salads and sushi to go and you can save Money using the so-called "Meal Deal" (meal+snack+drink for 3 pounds). Sometimes there are even salad bars and other bars.
But also if you want to have a hot meal or drink some coffee or tee you have a big selection. There is f.ex. the hip Restaurant "Pret A Manger" that offer snacks and coffee to go. For the coffee friends nearly every Corner of London has a Starbucks that also serves tasty frappés and cakes and cookies. Anyway, London has nearly everything that guzzlers like me dream of: cupcakes, meringues, chocolate bars, shortbread, ...

There are also existing small Italien Pasta Restaurants and the British People seem to be very crazy about sushi bars.

Shopping

Of course you can find in London all the nice shops that you can also find in your home town so I don't want to bore you by listing all those shops. Important is just to say that all the shopaholics can find their shops on the Oxford St./ Regent St. (Oxford Circus). Another good places for finding all your Favorite shops is the great Shopping mall "Westfield" in Stratford. Also Harrods is worth seeing, even if you are possibly not able to pay the things.

Parks

For having a break you can go for a walk in one of the many parks or in the London Zoo (Rengent's Park). In the Regent's Park (Regent's Park) there you can even borrow a boat. Or after all the walking you just take the next bus, drive till  the end of the line and watch the hurly-burly on the streets of London for a while.
